Connectify 2.0.1 Released!
Connectify 2.0.1 was released today, which adds two new features, and several bug fixes.
In particular:
- Windows Service: Connectify now runs as a Windows Service, instead of as a task under Task Scheduler. This should not only resolve some installation errors, but allow you use to use the Services control panel in Windows to stop and start the service, when it’s not needed. Additionally, this means that the access point can be run while no one is logged on, either because they have logged off or because the machine just booted. If the Access Point was running when the machine shut down, then it will automatically start again when it boots.
- Manufacturer Icons: Now have icons and automatic recognition for over 100 device manufacturers. Includes the PlayStation, B&N Nook, and many many more devices.
- Bug fixes:
-
- Installation issues: When needed, increment the number of allowed filter drivers to resolve issues seen by users with many virtual machines and VPNs; no longer require the Visual C++ Redistributable libraries.
- Other issues: Make sure that the PlayStation firewall ports are always open; changed our local domain from “connectify.local” to “connectify” as some implementations of ZeroConf/Avahi/Rendezvous were getting confused; make sure that your Wi-Fi network name shows up in the Network and Sharing Center (instead of the “Unidentified Network” that appeared with 2.0.0).
There is still a known issue with Internet connections that act as “PPP Devices” in Windows. This includes certain tethered cell phones and WAN devices. Fixing this issue is now our top priority, but the other fixes and improvements were worth releasing despite this issue.

Thanks again for your support!

Well, it doesn't work anymore. The clients stay at the "Connecting…" status and I think you should allow people to select their own internet connection to share (like an Advanced option). Please fix it.

Version 2.0.1 does not work … Connect the phone, he constantly reconnect. And the monitoring of Wi-Fi networks shows that at the first attempt to connect wi-fi on your computer is turned off … Correct please, to update everything worked perfectly!

We need support for PSP – so you guys need to add other security options such as WEP to WiFi. Using WEP in Ad-Hoc mode is rubbish.

I agree, ever since they switched to 2.0, the program has stopped working. Clients are no longer able to obtain ip addresses. I sent them my logs and have received no response since then. It is a shame that a program that was working wonderfully has been converted into such a useless piece of rubbish, and moreso a shame that their Customer Service is so terrible. Why they stopped doing what was obviously working so well we will never know.

I found a solution and successfully connected to the Connectify 2.0.1!!!
To configure the "Wireless Network Connection" disable Connectify Driver. Following this simple procedure, the connection started correctly set! (Then again, I have given general access to the internet for "Wireless Network Connection", but how to do it ask google)

But now have another problem, Connectify began to load the CPU … not very strong 15-20% … but I have 4 cores to 3 GHz …
Generally, this is very buggy release good software …

Connectify is not working concurrently with VMWare Player.
My VMs can access network if I disable connectify
My iPhone can access network if I exit VMWare
VMWare and Connectify running together neither can access network …

I just wanted to chime in about the 2.0.1 no IP problem. I cannot connect my HTC Evo because of this issue. I will look for older releases, but hate to go backwards. Please blog when this has been resolved and I will update and try again.

Same with me… Clients aren't able to use Internet.
Kindly fix the bug or switch to the older version (and make v1.2 available at a secondary link for download).

Same here. Have older 2.0.0.xxx version installed on one laptop….work fine. Put the new one as a fresh install on another laptop and it doesn't work. Connection never seems to be given IP etc via DHCP or something.

Finally! Connectify 2.0.1 did it for me. Unlike previous versions.
Am using RTL 8187L adapter (officially not supported by Connectify) and Win 7 x86.
What did the trick and enabled me to share my LAN connection via WLAN RTL 8187L adapter integrated onto Asus P5K Premium WiFi mobo was to let "dualserver.exe" file from Connectify installation folder through Windows Firewall (this isn't done by default during installation) or turn off Firewall completely for WLAN network through which Connectify is sharing LAN Internet connection.
Am still getting (after restarts) a warning that somehow network configuration has changed and that Connectify had to go back to default settings or something like that.
Also, there is no way Connectify can reconfigure LAN network adapter through which am getting the Internet to share it with Microsoft virtual adapter, but overall am very pleased with v2.0.1.
It's the first time after I installed Win 7 that I've been able to use SOFT AP capabilities of my mobo-integrated wireless adapter.
