Connectify 1.2 Beta Available

Posted by agizis on March 5, 2010 under Uncategorized

We just uploaded a beta pre-release of Connectify 1.2 (version 1.2.0.14324, to be exact). This is an almost finished build of the software to get more feedback before we launch.

It’s available for download at:
http://www.connectify.me/download/ConnectifyInstaller_Beta1.2.exe

Feature include:

  • Improved Ad Hoc Support: By popular demand, Ad Hoc now supports “Open” (no encryption) mode, and works properly even when no Internet connection is available.
  • Connectify Easy Setup Wizard: Connectify gets even easier to start with thanks to our new simple to use wizard walks you through your first setup of your network, and helps explain the process and options.
  • Improved User Interface: The Connectify window stays visible until you minimize it (so you can keep it up to watch devices connect, if you desire), and there are improved messages and tool tips throughout the program.
  • More Statistics: The tool tip on the Clients now reveal even more information: how many times the device has connected, the total time that they’ve been connected, and their MAC addresses.

Hopefully, this will be a short beta, so download it today, and use it for a day or two and tell us what you think by either shooting an email to support at connectify.me or by posting to our Facebook page.

Thank you.

Unfortunately Intel 3945 drivers cannot do Access Point mode (and from our talks with them, they don't intend to ever add it).

You could still get an Ad-Hoc network going, however the big downside is that it can't keep you on another Wi-Fi network at the same time.

Is it possible to use it in Access Point mode with either no encryption or with just WEP? The (pre-DSi) Nintendo DS will only connect to the internet via an access point / router, but does not support WPA, so that feature would be a very useful option.

+1 to the DS comment. Been trying to figure out a way to get my DS working. I have 2 wireless cards on my laptop (intel 4955 and an unbranded USB stick). The intel will do adhoc, but cant connect to the DS to adhoc nets, and while the unbranded does infrastructure, the WPA encryption kills it. WEP or no encryption would be awesome on AP mode pleeeease. Thanks

    Good Day !!

    This is a great idea!!

Could you Please add to this the ability to cnx another unit by hardwire through the lan cnx.

I have a Lan Cnx Style hardwire device a satalite dongle that req's an internet cnx.

If I could hardwire cnx through the computer to the Lan Cnx with connectify running this would solve all my problems!!

You would have to add an additioal options tab that would allow for activation of the Lan CNX.

    Awaitng a Positive Programming Response!!

    THANX!!

    JR!!

Would really appreciate, like others, for a future ability to select WEP/WPA for older devices like the PSP and DS. :D Just set to WPA2 for default so people who don't know what they're doing are still secure, or perhaps a warning that WEP is more insecure than WPA2 when selecting WEP.

Unless installing or removing software, I prefer to log into my Win7 computer with normal user privlege. Connectify requires an Admin account to install, and start the service. Requiring an admin account to install is fine. But, please enable the Connectify service to be started and stopped by either a regular user account, or after the user enters the credentials for an admin account.

All Working fine on RTL8187 only the problem in startup… When i re-installed connectify 1.2, PC load connectify 1.2 very slow, then its came with few errors: Incorrect Settings…. I configured all it again, rebooted, and the same! The only way connectify 1.2 works – removed by startup and re-enabling hotspot :( …I cant downgrade to 1.1 because it kicks my N95 from the network..Nice, its fixed in 1.2 !

In the support card and devices page it says it support "Intel 5100/5300, driver version 13.0.0.107" for Access point mode. Well I have "Intel(R) WiFi Link 5300 AGN" but when i try to use Access point mode I can't use. Am I doing something wrong or are they [ "Intel 5100/5300, driver version 13.0.0.107" and "Intel(R) WiFi Link 5300 AGN"] different from each other so it doesn't support?
